Car Seat/Booster Seat Policy
Recent research is showing that many children 8 and up are not safe riding without booster seats because they are not yet tall enough for their seat belts to be positioned properly. (AAA and the National Safety Council in 2021 found that 90% of children using adult lap-and shoulder safety belts under the age of 10 should still be in a car booster seat.)We require all participants to use booster seats until they are 4'9, over 100lbs and can pass the 5 Point Safety Test.
Our car booster seats are rated for children 40 lbs and over. All TK/Kindergarten students must weight at least 40lbs on their first day of Ramblin' or will be required to provide their own car seats and walk us through their installation.

Variation in After School Pick Up Policy
Parents are responsible to report upcoming irregular days, including: early or late dismissals that are not on the regular daily schedule to the Ramblin’ Office and the Ramblin’ Trail Guide leading the group that day. Ramblin' is on the Santa Cruz City schools' calendar. Parents of students attending schools not on the SCCS calendar are responsible to keep track of this calendar and coordinate drop off on days that Ramblin' is open when their schools are closed.
Late Drop-off Policy
We have found that children arriving late to our program cause disruptions to the teachers & children already engaged in their pretrip meeting or daily hike. If your child is not dropped off on time they may not attend that day. No refunds given for late drop-offs.
Late Pick-up Policy
Evening pick-ups are between 5:00-5:30pm. Any pick-up after 5:30pm, is considered a late pick-up and will be assessed the $15 late pick-up fee. If a child makes an intentional choice to put themself or another child in danger that child is subject to suspension and/or immediate expulsion from Ramblin’ Adventure Club.
Risk Management Policy
In the event that a child is not ready to fully participate in Ramblin’ Adventure Club and in turn puts the group at risk via needing excessive attention, we require the child to take one to four quarters off from adventuring and try again when they are ready. (Examples include but are not limited to: daily bathroom mishaps, wandering away from the group, unstable balance and stability, unable to adventure without a parent etc.)
Food Policy
In the event that your child arrives without a lunch or without adequate protein in their lunch you will be required to bring a lunch out to the group. If this happens a second time you will be charged a $30 lunch fee to pay for the time it takes to do a lunch run and the money involved in paying for the lunch items. Upon the third lunch-less day your child will be sent home immediately and you will not be refunded for the missed day.
Sick/Injured Policy
Ramblin' students are expected to arrive at Ramblin' each day healthy and ready to adventure.
