Are you needing some help for the school year but daunted by the price of a nanny? Are you looking for distance learning or homeschool help? Want to get your kids outside? Do you need some kid free time in your day? How about getting them out for some adventures with their friends?
Ramblin' Adventure Club, since 2014, is an after-school and homeschool outdoor adventure program for youth grades K-6th. Kids spend quality time in the wild areas of Santa Cruz County in the company of friends and our skilled leaders. Our destinations include swimming holes, climbing trees, creeks, rivers, beaches, caves, and habitats of particular interest.
Our modified Fall 2020 program aims to provide the same quality of outdoor experiences for your children, while mitigating risks pursuant to the ongoing COVID pandemic.

Full week enrollment only: This school year we will be using our summer weekly pricing model, i.e. you do not need to attend all 5 days but you do need to pay for all 5 days. This in order to mitigate risk. We need Ramblin’ teachers to be able to work with a single group for the duration of the year and not hold second, third and fourth jobs, and so, must be given hours and a living wage. If Ramblin’ teachers do not work multiple jobs this year their exposure to the virus remains low, and in turn, your exposure to the virus remains low.
We will send you our full length Hiking Guide and Policies Waiver, which will be sent out after enrollment confirmation. We will keep you updated on any program changes as time passes and we continue to learn more about the virus and its impact on Santa Cruz County.

- Masks wearing for children not attending their school site will be required during van rides, sedentary interactions with each other within 6 feet, 9and while passing others on the trail. More stringent mask wearing precautions will be discussed between parents, the program director, and your child’s Ramblin’ teacher during our mandatory Fall Quarter Orientation zoom meeting, and will ultimately be decided by whoever's default precaution is most conservative, or the continually updated mandates outlined in the California Dept. of Health Guidelines.
Precautions for all students:
- One member from each household of participating students and teachers must submit a mandatory COVID-19 negative test result to the Ramblin' office within 5 days of starting Ramblin'. This precaution will likely be repeated after major holidays and breaks throughout the school year.
- Masks must be worn in vehicles, while passing people on the trail, and during sedentary activities. Children who are in a pod with 3 or more households or attend school sites or other sites where groups of people congregate (excluding grocery stores) must wear masks for the entirety of the Ramblin’ day and will not be grouped with children who are high risk or practicing high precaution.
- Temperatures will be checked daily upon arrival at Ramblin’ with a touchless thermometer. This is both for students and teachers.
- All Ramblers must wear neck gaiters each day to participate in Ramblin’. Children are welcome to also bring alternate masks, but will still be required to wear a neck gaiter while at Ramblin’ even if a different mask is being worn.
- Children, or their families, who are experiencing sickness or symptoms of sickness will not be eligible to attend Ramblin’ while high temperatures and symptoms persist, this includes but is not limited to: coughing, sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose, body aches, sore throat, etc.
- Hand washing and sanitization will happen at regularly timed intervals throughout the Ramblin’ day, including before and after eating, entering and exiting the van, nature potty, sneezing, etc.
